For the fisherman, there are two coarse fishing lakes within a few minutes drive from Burley Rails Cottage and day tickets for these can be purchased from the Forestry Commission. On the outskirts of Burley and at nearby Sway there are more coarse fisheries that boast monstrous Carp and Perch and access to these can be arranged, if required. For the game fisherman there are several, still-water fisheries that can provide for their needs and those famous rivers the Test, the Itchen and the Avon are all within easy reach and offer Brown Trout and Grayling fishing when in season. For the more experienced fisherman, who wishes to try his luck for a Salmon, Burley Rails Cottage has four beats on the Avon that are available from 1st February through to the 31st of July.
